When my boyfriend and I were brainstorming on new furniture options for our tiny, tiny living room, we couldn’t agree on much.

But one thing that was a unanimous YES!, was a bean bag chair. Two to be exact. We both had bean bag chairs in our rooms growing up, and remember them fondly. I had a bright yellow one and loved curling up like a cat and taking a snooze on it when I probably should have been doing my homework. He and his brother had two, and they became their Nintendo chairs: two amorphous blobs that molded to their shapes after hours of stationery game-play. Beanbag chairs may seem like a corny relic of the ’70s and ’80s, but with online stores like LoveSac.com and BeanbagChairOutlet.com, the once outdated design gets a new, cooler, lease on life.

I can’t wait to sink into my new bean bag chair with a book, and drift off to dreamland…

For most of us, summer time is all about kicking back and relaxing in our backyard (if you’re fortunate enough to have one). Sure, patio furniture can really turn your backyard into a nice little lounge area, but if you really want that perfect summertime oasis you need a good hammock. Now, I’m not talking about some sheet tied haphazardly between two tree branches, I’m talking about a serious hammock crafted specifically for extreme lounging.

It takes a true genius to make filing interesting, and that pretty much sums up Alessandro Zambelli. Not to mention his Stack storage system.

Part of an exhibit in Milan Design Week, the Stack system boasts a hodgepodge of vintage filing cabinets, lockers, and cubbies encompassing the indifferent metal and almost-pretty colors reminiscent of days gone be. Even kids that have been stuffed in lockers will appreciate this one.

CoolThings.com posted about a beer keg barstool yesterday on April Fool’s, but we don’t think this boozy piece of furniture is anybody’s joke. Said masterpiece is formally called the KegStool, and you can order one for yourself at www.KegFun.com.

For $99, you get the KegStool kit, which includes everything except the titular keg and some necessary elbow grease. If you’re lazy (or drunk), you can save yourself the hassle by ordering a pre-built KegStool for $100 more.

The writers at CoolThings lamented the KegStool‘s lack of functionality, but we think it’s still pretty neat.

Meet the Hamburger Bed, the brainchild of a crafty burger enthusiast in Texas. This existential creation challenges our dietary norms, raising questions like “Who’s eating who?” and “Where’s the ketchup?” Also, it’s apparently very comfortable.

According to the creator, Kayla, the hamburger bed is composed of the following:

circular bed + box frame (circa the ’70s)

light brown fabric

slightly darker light brown fabric

dark brown king-sized fitted sheet

yellow, green king-sized sheets (skip the yellow if you don’t want a cheeseburger)

30 or so pillows

“a couple of zippers”

pantyhose (to fashion sesame seeds)

When furnishing our homes, all too often we forget about the bathroom. The bathroom, however small, is one of the most visited areas of the house, among residents and guests alike. That’s why we were so excited to see a selection of innovative sinks on Yanko Designs, including the beauty pictured above.

Visit Yanko Designs to view more innovative bathroom sinks.

We just stumbled upon an incredible piece of furniture called DOC, a convertible sofa from Bonbon Trading. But this couch doesn’t just convert into a bed — it converts into two beds.

The exact mechanics elude us, but the DOC somehow transforms into bunk beds, including a ladder and protective guard.

Your move, Optimus Prime.

A company called Wilkhahn created a calorie-burning piece of office (or home office) furniture called the ON Chair. This baby offers a full range of motion, allowing you to move forwards, backwards, and side-to-side, putting your knees and hips to work while you toil at your desk. Check out the video above to watch people try the ON on for size.

The ON Chair can activate your metabolic system (so says a German health institute) and prevent pain, improve posture, cure cancer, etc. Plus, it maintains a stable center of gravity the whole time, meaning you never have to worry about falling over – which, we’ll admit, we were worried about.

The ON Chair cost $850 as of last fall – would your boss cover that?

Tired of having to choose between relieving yourself and staring at your guppies? With Fish N Flush, you can do both at once!

In today’s multitasking society, it was only a matter of time before the aforementioned activities were combined — but until this baby gets wi-fi, we’re sticking with classic (and fish free) porcelain.
